Saturday night, Chicago socialites gathered once again to support a great cause. The Windy City’s own little darlin, Whitney Reynolds hosted her first gala at Germania Place. It was truly a night for celebration as Whitney and her hubby, David thrilled the crowd by announcing the sexes of their little twin babies. Wanting to share the event with their friends , they had the information sealed in decorated boxes that the couple opened in front of the crowd . Squeals of joy filled the room when David and Whitney found out that they were expecting a boy and a girl.
Guests that came to the event enjoyed many dishes that were the personal picks of Whitney. They were great picks and it was very hard to pick one of my favorites among the restaurants. One that definitely made an impression on me was from Kitty O Shea’s at the Chicago Hilton. It was a braised short rib that literally melted in my mouth. The meat was accompanied with a cheesy risotto. Dinosaur Barbecue also tickled me with a brisket and tangy sauce with a pickle relish with zing. Goddess and Grocer followed suit with a healthy kale salad. Reggie ‘s Restaurant got me excited with a five cheese baked macaroni and cheese that was filling and delicious. There was also plenty of goodies too , from bundt cakes , layered desserts, and a birthday cake for the birthday girl. Coincidentally , today was also Miss Whitney’s thirtieth birthday.
The best part of the evening was seeing old friends. It felt like old home week. The event also had its share of celebrities as well. Both Miss Illinois, Jessica Kumpula and Mrs. Illinois ,Nicole Zwiercan were also in attendance. Guests could also bid on prizes at the silent auctions including a private consultation with interior designer, Benjamin Cottrell of Benjamin Cottrell Designs. All proceeds from the gala benefited the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. When guests left, they were given an Argo Tea donated by one of the sponsors.
Everyone dressed in their finest despite the arctic weather in April
I have known this sweetie for about four years and you can’t get any nicer than her. Soon to come will be an interview with this Chicago celeb about her meteoric climb and her muses about upcoming motherhood.
Two really great ladies who are beautiful on the inside and out, Miss Illinois, Jessica Kumpula and Mrs. Illinois , Nicole Zwiercan were more than happy to lend their smiles to this great cause and Whitney.
The highlight of the evening was when Whitney and her husband , David revealed to the crowd the sexes of their twins. It was the first time that the couple knew as well since the results were sealed, so they could be surprised too.
There was cake for dessert since it was also Whitney’s birthday
