It is no secret that one of the hottest shows on the tube right now is the megahit “Scandal” . Fans of the show or “Gladiators” can’t wait to discuss the complex plots or the exploits of their favorite characters. Well one “gladiator” has taken it to the next level, Kevin A Fredricks or as he is more known on the Internet Kev on Stage.
His animated version of the show is called “Cartoon Scandal.” Recently I spent a hilarious afternoon with Kevin as he told me about his life and the reason behind creating the internet sensation. Kevin was a military brat growing up and has always considered his family great material. As well as internet producer, he is also a stand up comic and actor.
“I guess the main reason that I created the internet version was just out of plain boredom. I was left home one night and just started playing.” Kevin said modestly. It has created such a buzz that it has been recognized all over the internet I was also interested to know that all of the characters are voiced by him, including Olivia. “I had always hoped that one day it would be recognized by Kerry and Shonda.” he added. That wish was realized when it was mentioned on a television show called “The Writers Room” where Kerry and Shonda were discussing about the show. It doesn’t have the same dramatic effects as the show, it is more of a satire of the ridiculousness of the plots . Another fan of Kevin ‘s is Chicago’s own philanthropist Luvvie Ajayi. He actually used a poster she made for the “funeral” of Harrison Wright, the former character portrayed by Columbus Short.
I thought it was interesting that he didn’t realize that both Sally and Cyrus had previously been Meredith Grey’s parents on “Grey’s Anatomy.” This led to a hilarious account of the one cast member that he actually did get to meet. “We were in Long Beach and in a traffic jam. The car in front of us wouldn’t budge and I really wanted to move. I got out and I couldn’t believe it , it was Kate Burton, who plays the psychotic Sally Langston. ”
Kevin will continue to do his routines and produce “Cartoon Scandal” . He also markets a line of shirts as well. Needless to say between his family, his career, and his web site, Kevin has a bright future to say the least.
