A Different Kind of Taste at Bombay Wraps

One of the hottest trends around is the Indian culture. Bollywood has taken over Hollywood and everyone is using curry in everything. Thanks to master chef Suzy Singh she has taken this exotic cuisine and brought it up a notch. She isn’t the only one spreading the news of Indian cuisine, Falguni Dewjee is bringing it to the lunch time crowd with “Bombay Wraps” its Indian food that’s fast and reasonable.

Falguni has grown up around food and pastries all her life. A trip on a trip to one of the many eateries on Devon it made her aware of how Indian restaurants have way too large servings and are on the rather pricy side. “I have taken Indian dishes and made them more available” she says. She’s right she’s one of the most popular eateries in the busy west loop.

Living on the North side I’m just a bus ride away from  the best Indian cuisine on Devon Ave. In fact when I was still a newbie in Chicago my first job was at an Indian restaurant. Falguni was so gracious to invite us to try some of her Indian fare. I was excited to see one of the beverages was a lassi. Lassi is a fruit juice based drink that is popular in Indian restaurants. We tried a strawberry one, and my favorite mango. Jen said she finally saw why I talked  about it so much. They’re so delish and healthy in a glass.

We continued with two veggie wraps a cheese paneer and a potato tava. All of the entrees here are in wrap form but pure Indian all the same. The Paneer is stuffed with Indian cheese, tandori, spices, pickled onions and cilantro chutney. The Tava contained some of the same ingredients combined with potato. We also tried the most popular meat wrap, the chicken tikka. It was chock full of chicken and I liked that. With the vegetarian menu vegans have a lot of tasty options,so do Catholics with Lent right around the corner.

The sides are tasty as well. The samosas generously stuffed. They also have great sweet potato fries their little trick is a sassy little ketchup sauce combined with Indian spices.

Barfi is an Indian delicacy, so we had to finish our meal by trying this dessert. They come in chocolate, coconut, and pistachio, they hit the spot.

Bombay Wraps also serves great breakfast wraps as well. These wraps were created by Suzy specially for the restaurant. In the summer, a brunch is featured with special wraps and liquor laced lassi.

Bombay Wraps is located at 120 N Wells just steps from the brown line. Go and try something original today!
