Today we wish a happy birthday to our own dear Lisa Kidrow. As Phoebe she was the friend who was a little bit floopy, but full of heart. Today , she shows that love to her son and husband. So today, we show her a little love by honoring her career. Lisa was born in Encino California on July 30, 1963 to Lee and Nedra Kudrow. Lisa is no “Dumb” blonde since she graduated from Vassar with a BS in pschobiology. She also excels in tennis and considers herself a pool shark. Lisa was bitten by the acting bug with the help of her brother and his pal Jon Lovitz. She then joined the LA group , the Groundlings. This led to the start of a great television career.
Here is Lisa as she appeared on “Cheers” . She was a young actress that was supposed to appear in a production of “Our Town” with Woody. Woody couldn’t act with her , because he was in love with his future wife, Kelly. Little known fact, Lisa was originally cast in “Frazier” as Roz, but lost the part to Peri Gilpin.
Lisa was the obnoxious waitress on “Mad About You” . Her character was named Ursula.Coincidentally, Lisa had transferred Ursula when she was on “Friends” She had her sister play her double and voila, “Phoebe had a twin. Ursula was a bad girl and slept with her dearest friend , Joey.
Lisa also won an Emmy in 1998 for her portrayal of Phoebe. One of the major storylines of that year was her being a surrogate mother to her half brother’s babies. Here she is in the touching scene of saying good bye to the triplets.
Like all the other friends, Lisa had a budding movie career. She starred in great movies like “Happy Endings” with Bobby Cannavale “Lucky Numbers” with John Travolta and “Marci X ” with Damon Wayans
When “Friends” ended, Lisa became executive producer with SOTC Michael Patrick King in “The Comeback” Lisa was Valerie Cherrish, a washed up sitcom actress who was trying to make a comeback by starring in her own reality show. Lisa was nominated for an Emmy, but sadly she didnt win and the show lasted only a season.
Currently , she can be seen on Showtime’s “Web Therapy” . She plays a therapist who wants to help her patients and her career by broadcasting their sessions on the Web. One of her patients this year might seem very familiar . It is none other than her former co star ,David Schwimmer.
So from chitownstarconnections, we wish you Lisa a happy happy birthday.
