Happy Birthday to the Friend-liest Friend!

Today we raise a piece of pizza as we celebrate Matt LeBlanc’s birthday.  He was everyone’s brother, you would never touch his food and he never called a girl after he slept with them.  Matt is currently starring in the Showtime Hit “Episodes” playing an exaggerated version of himself.  Let’s take a look at Matt’s illustrious life.

Matthew Steven LeBlanc was born in Newton , Massachusetts on July 25, 1967 to Patricia and Paul LeBlanc. An interesting fact about Matt is that his father is French -Canadian a trait he shares with his former co star , Matthew Perry.  The Italian looks he gets from his mother.  Matt has always wanted to create with his hands, so for a while he went to trade school where he learned to be a carpenter.

Those roguish good looks soon were discovered and Matt was working as a model and getting commercials for Seven Up and Heinz Ketchup.  Next , came a new challenge and that was acting. He would appearing in guest roles for shows like “Just the Ten of Us” and then hit pay dirt by playing Vinny Verducci on “Married with Children”

This role would lead to Matt’s first series . “Top of the Heap” Matt’s “Vinnie Verducci was the son of Charlie Verducci, who was a friend of Al Bundy’s.   Charlie was always hatching plans to marry rich for himself and his son.

In 1994, Matt braved a fever and auditioned for FRIENDS where he created the part of Joey Tribbiani. Joey was a lover of food and women. His acting career was filled with bumps and bruises. He loved all his friends and considered them his brothers and acted as a big brother to his female friends as well. He tried to have a romantic relationship with Rachel , but in the end he realized that her heart only belonged to one man.

Here is Joey in his first successful role as Dr Drake Ramoray on “Days of our Lives”

Here is one of his funniest scenes on “Friends” in TOW No One’s Ready” . There was a special bromance between the three guys on the show and that chemistry was evident in their work. Matt was nominated for an Emmy for his work on FRIENDS. Here he is with Matthew Perry in a scene.

And here he is with David Schwimmer , who not only directed him on FRIENDS, but directed two episodes of the FRIENDS spin off “Joey”

Matt did many movies while he was still on FRIENDS , “Lost in Space” was probably his most popular. In this movie recreation of the sixties sci fi series, Matt played Major Don West .

Here is Matt with the cast of his “Friends” spin off “Joey” .  Among the stars of the show was Paolo Costanzo , from the USA hit “Royal Pains” playing Joey’s nephew , Michael. The show had many guest stars but most notably was Simon Helberg of “The Big Bang Theory ” as Seth.

Presently, Matt is appearing as himself on the Showtime hit “Episodes” He has been nominated for an Emmy for the role and also had garnered a Golden Globe as well.

Here he is with the two ladies in his life  his lovely daughter Marina who was born in 2004.

And his girlfriend Andrea Anders, who he met while they were appearing on “Joey” Andrea played Alex, the love of Joey’s life. Coincidentally Andrea, also starred on the short lived ABC series  “Mr Sunshine” as Matthew Perry’s girlfriend as well.
