Eric McCormack: Man of Many Parts

Some of our best television actors come from the North. These include Michael J Fox, Mike Myers, Sarah Chalke from “Scrubs”, Paolo Costanzo from “Royal Pains” and “Go On” and “FRIENDS” Matthew Perry. Another actor on this list is the actor “formerly known as Will on “Will and Grace” and that is Eric McCormack. Eric is trying his hand at another series on TNT called “Perception” (more about that later)  Here is a brief look at other moments and performances in Eric’s career.

One of Eric’s most beloved television movies was with “Touched by an Angel’s” Roma Downey in “Borrowed Hearts” A sappy Christmas movie that united Downey’s character with tycoon McCormack. There was an angel involved but that part was played by beloved actor Hector Elizondo.

Paired with Eric’s love for science fiction, he was cast in the cult classic “Free Enterprise” along with fellow Canadian and pop icon William Shatner. The movie revolved around a group of men who as boys worshiped the original Star Trek.  Highly recommended and look for Shatner rapping “Julius Caesar”  .

Eric’s biggest claim to fame and the show that made him a household name was “Will and Grace”  . Eric won an Emmy for portraying a gay lawyer whose best friend was the woman he loved from  college. Here is the fab foursome who made up the classic series. Debra Messing  , Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally.

Eric is trained for stage, as shown here in the American premiere of Neil Labute’s “Some Girls”.  American television stalwarts like Maura Tierney (here) Fran Drescher, and Judy Reyes played the women in Eric’s character’s life . Interesting little fact, Eric was second place (speculated) for the role of Ross on “Friends”.

Here is Eric’s fur babies and you can tell that Eric is an animal lover as well

This isn’t Eric’s first time on TNT. He played a Chicago ad exec along with Tom Cavanaugh  in “Trust Me”  .

Here is Eric , his wife, Janet, and his little boy, Finnegan

Eric showed a totally new side of his talent in the Lifetime movie, “Who is Clark Rockefeller?”  He played a man who pretended to be someone else and ER’s Sherry Stringfield fell for his charms.

Eric has done many guest starring roles on prime time . Here is one where he appears on “Law and Order, SVU”

Eric is a huge supporter of other actors. Here he is with fellow “Must See TVer”, Matthew Perry, in the days when their shows were a regular part of America’s Thursdays nights.

Eric recently appeared on Broadway in “The Best Man” . Here he is with fellow Emmy winner , John Larroquette.

Eric can now be seen on TNT’s “Perception” where he plays Dr Daniel Pierce, a college professor who uses his gifts to solve unusual crimes.
