Today we celebrate a woman who embodies beauty, talent , and the school of hard knocks. She is an actress, has her own production company , and a mom to boot. Today we celebrate Courteney Cox on her birthday by looking back on this incredible woman’s life.
Courteney Bass Cox was born June 15, 1964 in Birmingham , Alabama to Courteney and Richard Cox. She excelled in school but felt like an outsider. Courteney loved the latest styles and looking good at an early age. After high school, she attended Mount Vernon College where she was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. But college was not where she belonged, so she went to New York where she landed work as a prestigious Ford model. This turn of events was what started her on her journey to acting. She will always be known as the girl who said “period” on television.
Early in 1994, Courteney tested for a new series called “Friends” . Originally reading for the role of Rachel, she got her break when she was cast as the obsessive former fatty , Monica. “Friends” also gave her a great bff… who would be godmother to her daughter..Jennifer !!
Friends and lovers. Courteney’s character, Monica fell in love with her brother’s college roommate and friend. Little did she know the guy across the hall would be the love of her life. Courteney with co star and real life friend Matthew Perry of “Go On”
After much heartache , Courteney became a mother on June 13, 2004. Her daughter Coco Riley Arquette was born and became the light of her life. Coco regularly comes to work with her mother and is also a daddy’s girl. Obvious she takes after mommy in the style department.
Inspired by real life tabloids and what they had done to her and her friends, Courteney returned to television in “Dirt” She took on the role of Lucy Spiller, a tabloid editor who would stop at nothing to dish the dirt. Lucy was noted for her sexual exploits and a special kiss between her and bff Jen. Here she is with her henchman and photographer Don (Ian Hart)
Courteney is not only a great television actress, but is a great movie actress as well. She has had roles in many movies including “Ace Ventura, Pet Detective,” Commandments” “Bedtime Stories,” but most notably she has played the role of reporter -writer Gale Weathers in all four of the successful “Scream” movies.
