Cantina 46 in River North was host recently to a fun, unique event. Milagro tequila invited to learn about tequila and make the” perfect” margarita. I have to admit that I was scared after seeing some of the pros in action. But our teacher, Milagro brand ambassador, Jaime assured me that it would be easy and I would have fun doing it.
Each participant was given the tools to make the perfect drink. Each of the ingredients were fresh and we also were taught about different tequilas and their aging processes. Two ingredients are essential to make a great margarita and they are lime juice and tequila. The lime juice was completely fresh and each participant was also given a lime press, recipe book in a bright blue Milagro beach bag.
So with a class full of people muddling and shaking their shakers, we got to make four drinks. The first was the Mercadito with a spicy taste of jalapenos, next was the Mayan Mule and then came my two favorites the Veracruzana and Carpe Diem with their fruity tastes. We also sampled the Milagro reserves as well, this would include what I would describe as a journey of all the senses.
Cantina 46 further enhanced the experience with a sampling of their fare as well. My winner for the tastiest and most unusual appetizer was the butternut squash taco. There was also lots of tasty guacamole. Everyone had a tiempo bien. As Jaime would say, “Tequila does bring people together.”
