RIP Barnabas Collins

I heard that last week the actor that portrayed the original Barnabas Collins had passed away.  This is a very timely thing considering the recent release of the movie “Dark Shadows.”  I won’t even go into the fact when I saw trailers of the movie, I was horrified.  Jonathan Frid humanized a vampire long before Anne Rice.  He made the creature a very classy and sophisticated thing, rather than terrifying.  I was very young when the show was on ABC in the late sixties. I do have this memory, my late father speeding home from work to sit down and visit Collinswood for a while after a long day in the machine shop.

I guess I will always picture the daytime drama when I think of Daddy.  Maybe that is why I decided to post this instead of what fab party I was attending or some play that I was at.  So here is my tribute to the late actor. He died not far from where he was born in Canada and even though he didnt do that many roles, he made an impact with the one he did.  Goodbye sir! I am sure that you are now in heaven with Daddy talking about the old days.
