Welcome to Beauty in the City

Now you may be asking what does she know about make up? Well I have a long history using different products.  I have been using make up since I was a preteen like most girls and some guys.  But unfortunately as I reached the end of my teen years, I had a very bad case of acne that continued into the first year of college.  This forced my mother to actually take me to a dermatologist. The worst thing a freshman in college is expected to hear is that they can’t drink Diet Coke or eat pizza.  The medication also did something else , it dried my face out and I had to use moisturizer at a young age.  This was unheard of.

I actually got my interest in make up and wanting to look good from my late mother. She prided herself on how she looked . One of my last memories was her putting on lipstick with her hair all gone and an iv going into her arm.  She obviously cared how she looked until the very end.

Here is my mom at my brother’s wedding. Doesn’t she look classy? This was taken in the seventies.

I also have a lot of knowledge about make up because of my profession. Through the years, I have done stage, television, and movies.  When someone is on stage, they use a special kind of make up . It allows all of the flaws to be covered.  Unfortunately , this kind of make up always broke out my face for a few weeks after the show had closed.

This make up is very greasy and has a tendency to clog the pores. It should be taken off immediately after you come off the stage.

This stuff is wonderful. It takes the make up right off. Don’t use Noxema or Vaseline to take off stage make up.

When I have done a role in a movie, I have either had to do my own make up or have someone else do it for me. (Which I love because it makes me feel like I am the star I want to be. ) These people that are make up artists I have the utmost respect for .  They are true artists because they can take anyone and make them glamorous.  I have had some good artists and a few bad ones.

I hope in the future to tell you about some great finds .I know people have different beauty needs and problems and I hope with what I find out I can help them .  One of the things I admire the most is beauty , inside and out.
