EPIC comes to the Gold Coast

Epic Burger comes to the Gold Coast tomorrow at 40 E Pearson. But before the big opening, I braved the shoppers on the Mag Mile to try some of the food and great service that has made them a mainstay in the Windy City.

Coming in the door, I knew this wasn’t your typical burger place. I was happy to see that Epic is definitely earth friendly and all of the paper and plastic products are recyclable.  It had a modern charm with its paintings of burgers and fries. I also love the fact that you can go upstairs to dine as you take a break from the busy Mag Mile. We weren’t the only ones there enjoying the food. There were a lot of families just enjoying spending a day together.  Friendly service is the other thing that I noticed. In a world where the burger is mass produced and slammed together, our orders were taken individually as each part of the meal was cooked and prepared.  All the ingredients of the sandwiches were natural and wholesome. No animal byproducts here.  Even the ketchup on the table was organic.

Doesn’t that just say it all? Yummmm

When the food arrived, I couldn’t wait to try it. I am a burger snob I must admit. I like a burger with a thick patty and I also like when someone tries something different with either cheese or a topping.  The meal came with fries and they were definitely tasty since they were hand cut and were not fried in the usual oil that other food places use.  I chose to have a whole wheat bun, bleu cheese, and grilled onions and my friend ordered the cheddar with a regular bun. I like the fact that at Epic you have a choice also .  And Epic not only has burgers, they also have a grilled chicken sandwich, and a tasty portabello for vegan eaters.  Something for everyone.

Have a taste for something sweet? At Epic Burger, it is not considered evil. All of their milkshakes contain natural ingredients like non fat yogurt instead of ice cream.  The smoothies are made with fresh fruit .  Today we got to sample a smoothie that had bananas and peanut butter in it. It was like drinking a reese’s peanut butter cup made with skim milk.

With six locations in the Chicago area, you can always find an Epic burger. So if you want a break or just a healthy bite, come to Epic Burger.  I guarantee when this cold weather breaks, I will be back to try one of their delicious sounding shakes and smoothies.
